Koh Samet to Hua Hin: meeting your boat at Ban Phe

The trip back begins with the boat from Koh Samet to the mainland. Tell us your operator and roughly which crossing you plan to take, and the driver waits at that jetty in Ban Phe, ready to take your bags as you come ashore. Ban Phe gets busy around midday, but at your jetty the driver is easy to find.

Boat times on the island side can be loose, and a crossing may run late because of the weather or a full boat. Message us on LINE or WhatsApp when you board and the driver will know when to expect you. Waiting time at the pier is agreed when you book. If you prefer, the driver can wait at a café near the pier and meet you when you message.

The long road back to Hua Hin

From Ban Phe the driver takes Highway 3 and Highway 36 to Motorway 7 towards Bangkok, then the outer ring road and Rama 2 Road (Highway 35) to bypass the city. Phetkasem Road (Highway 4) carries you through Phetchaburi and Cha-am on the last stretch to Hua Hin. The coastal road out of Ban Phe is quiet and easy.

On a late-morning boat you would usually reach Hua Hin in the early evening. An earlier crossing helps you clear the Bangkok ring road before the evening rush, the slowest part of the drive. The driver plans a rest stop halfway at a motorway service area with food, coffee and clean restrooms, and if you are hungry after the crossing, a lunch stop in Rayong can be added.

Resting after island days

After a few days of sun and sea, a quiet car is welcome. The Comfort car, SUV and MPV give room to stretch, and the Luxury MPV with reclining seats is the most restful way back. Groups of up to ten can travel together in the Van.

Sandy bags and wet towels are no problem, and child seats are available on request (+300 THB). Tell us the children’s ages when you book and the right seats will be fitted. Besides the motorway rest stop, the driver can stop for a meal in Rayong if you have not eaten since the boat, and helps with all the bags at both ends of the trip.

Why not the bus back

Buses and minivans do leave Ban Phe, but most go to Bangkok, so you would need to change there for Hua Hin. After a boat crossing and with luggage, a change at a Bangkok terminal turns a long day into a very long one. At busy times bus tickets also need to be bought in advance.

With a car waiting at the pier, the chain stays unbroken: boat, car, hotel. If your boat is late, the plan adjusts, which a fixed bus departure cannot do. Sharing the car as a family or group often brings the cost close to several bus tickets. The fixed price for the car is confirmed when you book.
