Hua Hin Safari & Adventure Park: Family Day Trip

Hua Hin Safari & Adventure Park is a family animal park in the countryside southwest of Hua Hin, about 30 km from town and open daily 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. With a private driver, you can arrive at opening while the animals are lively, bring car seats and snacks, and leave as soon as the children have had enough.

Hua Hin Safari: a family day out in the countryside

Hua Hin Safari & Adventure Park sits among fields and low hills inland from Hua Hin, around 40 minutes by car from the beach hotels. It is a privately run attraction built around families, mixing animal encounters with shows and easy outdoor activities in an open, relaxed setting. The road is short and flat, so even young children travel comfortably.

It is not a national park or a wildlife sanctuary, so set expectations accordingly: this is a place for children to see animals up close and spend an easy, active few hours. To see wild elephants in their natural habitat, head to Kui Buri National Park in the same zone. The two pair well, and a private car makes it simple to visit both in one day.

What to see and do

Most visitors loop around the grounds between animal enclosures and scheduled shows, stopping for photos and for feeding where staff allow it. Programmes change from time to time, so check the day’s schedule at the entrance and plan your route around the shows you most want to see. Arrive a little early for a good view, as seats fill up.

The open layout suits young children who like to roam, and there are shaded rest spots and simple food stalls. Animal welfare standards vary between attractions, so we suggest reviewing the current activities before you go and choosing the ones your family is comfortable with. Feeding areas tend to be the children’s favourite; build in rests between activities.

Best time to visit and how long to stay

Animals are more active in the cooler morning, and children have more energy before the midday heat. Arriving close to the 8:00 AM opening also means quieter paths. In the hot season from March to May, aim to finish by early afternoon, which leaves time for a swim back at the hotel. Shade is limited in places.

Most families spend two to three hours here. Weekends and Thai school holidays are busier. In the rainy season, mornings are usually drier, as heavy showers tend to arrive in the afternoon. If you plan to continue to Kui Buri for the 2:00 PM elephant watching, leave the Safari by about noon and stop for lunch on the way south.

Practical tips for families

Dress children in light clothes, hats and comfortable shoes, and pack sunscreen, insect repellent and plenty of water. A change of clothes helps after feeding sessions, and wet wipes are handy before snacks. Carry cash in small notes for extra activities and drinks. In the wet season, add light rain jackets and use a small bag to keep your hands free.

Your driver can bring a child seat if you request one when booking, and bags and buggies can stay in the car. Paths are mostly flat, though some stretches are gravel or grass. Keep a close eye on small children near the enclosures, follow the keepers’ instructions, and wash hands after any animal contact. A small first-aid kit is sensible.
