The Hua Hin to Suvarnabhumi Airport taxi route

Your driver heads north out of Hua Hin on Phetkasem Road (Highway 4), passing Cha-am and Phetchaburi before joining Rama 2 Road (Highway 35) at Samut Songkhram. Rama 2 carries most of the traffic between the southern coast and Bangkok and can slow around Samut Sakhon. From there the car takes the expressway ring around the city towards Bang Na and the airport.

Most of the journey runs on wide, divided highway, so the ride is smooth and steady. The driver chooses between the outer ring road and the inner expressways according to live traffic, which is often the difference between three hours and four. Every expressway toll is paid by us, so you never need cash at a toll booth.

What time to leave Hua Hin for your flight

For an international departure we suggest a pickup about six hours before take-off. That covers roughly three and a half hours on the road, a cushion for traffic on Rama 2, and the three hours most airlines ask you to allow for check-in, security and immigration. For a domestic flight, five hours before departure is usually comfortable, and it leaves business travellers time for the lounge.

Friday afternoons, Sunday evenings and the days before long weekends are the slowest times to drive into Bangkok. If your flight falls in one of these windows, tell us when you book and we will suggest an earlier time. A pre-dawn pickup is often the quietest and quickest drive of the day. We confirm the final pickup time with you the evening before.

  • International flight: pickup about 6 hours before departure
  • Domestic flight: pickup about 5 hours before departure
  • Holiday weekends: add 60 minutes

A quiet car for the last morning of your holiday

The car arrives clean, cool and on time, with room for every suitcase. Choose a Sedan or Comfort car for two, an SUV or MPV for a family with bags, a Van for groups of up to ten, or the Luxury MPV for reclining seats and extra legroom on the long road north.

Child seats and boosters are available on request at no extra cost; just give us the children’s ages when you book. Golf bags, prams and surfboards fit easily in the larger cars. Your driver loads the luggage at the hotel and unloads it at the departures kerb by your airline’s entrance, so all that is left is check-in.

Private car, bus or minivan to the airport

There are cheaper ways to reach Suvarnabhumi. Direct buses run from Hua Hin to the airport, and shared minivans go into Bangkok. They suit light travellers on a budget, but they leave on a fixed timetable from a fixed point, luggage space is limited, and you may need a taxi just to reach the departure stop.

A private car starts at your door, at the time that suits your flight, and stops when you need it to. For families, couples with large bags or anyone on an early or late flight, that flexibility is usually worth more than the saving. The price is agreed before you travel, with fuel and tolls already included, and split between four people the gap per head narrows further.

Sightseeing stops on the way to Bangkok

If your flight leaves in the evening, the drive can become part of the day. Phra Nakhon Khiri (Khao Wang) in Phetchaburi sits close to Highway 4, and the Maeklong railway market at Samut Songkhram is a short detour from Rama 2. Both fit easily into a morning departure from Hua Hin, and Phetchaburi is a good place to stop for a seafood lunch.

Each extra stop is +500 THB, and your driver waits while you visit. We check your flight time before agreeing any stop, so there is always enough margin to reach the airport calmly. Tell us what you would like to see in your booking message; if plans change on the day, tell the driver and we will adjust where possible.

Questions about this transfer

How much is a taxi from Hua Hin to Suvarnabhumi Airport?

The fixed fare depends on the car you choose and is shown for each vehicle type on this page. It already includes fuel, expressway tolls and the driver, so there is no meter and nothing to negotiate on the day.

How far in advance should I book a car from Hua Hin to Suvarnabhumi?

A day ahead is usually enough, but in high season and over Thai holidays we recommend booking several days in advance. You can cancel free of charge up to one day before pickup.

Where will the driver drop me at Suvarnabhumi?

Tell us your airline and the driver will stop on the departures level (level 4) as close as possible to your check-in row. Door numbers are marked along the kerb.

What if traffic makes me late for my flight?

We plan your pickup with a generous traffic margin and watch conditions on the day. If Rama 2 is badly blocked, the driver takes an alternative road and keeps you informed.
